SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (January 31, 2001) – The San Francisco Demons have reached an agreement with Clear Channel Communications, Inc., to broadcast the first-ever Demons’ schedule on radio during the 2001 season.

The pact was consummated by John Sutherland, Vice President-Market Manager, of Clear Channel Communications, and Michael Preacher, the Demons’ Vice President-General Manager.

The broadcast package begins with a one-hour pre-game show on 92 KSJO-FM and KABL-AM (960) prior to each game broadcast. The contest itself can be heard on KABL each week. KABL also is the play-by-play voice of the Oakland A’s.

“Clear Channel is thrilled to bring the power of several of its premier Northern California radio stations to support the San Francisco Demons’ inaugural season,” Sutherland said. “92 KSJO, Wild 94.9, KMEL, Channel 104.9 and KABL-AM will all play a major role in creating and celebrating the excitement of the XFL’s arrival in the Bay Area.”

“We are both extremely excited about this partnership,” Preacher added. “Clear Channel gains a promotional partner who has great synergy with their music stations and the XFL Demons will be the beneficiaries of five high-powered stations promoting the team and broadcasts.”

Sutherland said all five stations will direct listeners to Demons’ games and broadcasts. 92 KSJO will host a pre-game party and broadcast the pre-game show live from Pacific Bell Park at the party. Wild 94.9 and Channel 104.9 each will host official pre-game parties and offer listeners unique benefits such as the opportunity to win a Demon Cruiser (a 2001 PT Cruiser).

Preacher said veteran broadcaster Jim Kozimor, a member of the Sacramento Kings radio team, and former San Francisco 49ers’ safety Merton Hanks will describe the action in a non-traditional broadcast that features live interviews and actual sound of the game with players and coaches wearing microphones.
