Will There Be a “Rick & Bubba” Section in Birmingham?

By Bamaslammer – Birmingham Bolts Co-Reporter

20 December 2000 – Rick and Bubba the radio play-by-play men for the Birmingham Thunderbolts Radio Network are knocking around the idea of a “Rick and Bubba” section for the Bolts games.

The idea originated in Orlando where radio host Russ Collins of the “Monsters of the Mid-Day” radio show (WTKS, 104.1 FM) have a special section just for their listeners. Apparently the response in ticket sales was impressive and immediate.

Not wanting to be out done Rick and Bubba were taking calls this morning on their radio show to see if listeners were interested in a section for their “army” of followers.  The two radio hosts were only interested in doing it, if they could “show up” the guy in Orlando.

To sweeten the deal they also suggested there could be a slight discount in the ticket price. The suggestion could also be motivated by the lagging season ticket sales.

While many team are boasting ticket sales near or in excess of the league goal Birmingham is lagging painfully behind in that category.

It remains to be seen if Birmingham can come up with a 4th Quarter play to get back into this game.
