Sergio Castillo to start for Jets on Monday Night Football

Sergio Castillo New York Jets
Kicker Sergio Castillo is making the case that he belongs in the NFL.

Tonight on MNF, Sergio Castillo will seek another start for the New York Jets as a replacement for the injured Sam Ficken.

Castillo is four for five on field goal attempts since joining the Jets, one of which is a 55-yard boot. He also had a 48-yard field goal in the same game.

So far the XFL product Castillo has looked like he should be a mainstay in the NFL. He has the ability, and he certainly has the leg. In the days of COVID, it is hard to find a good kicker if your starting kicker goes down, just like the Jacksonville Jaguars were found fallible. The Jets really should leave Castillo as the starter for the foreseeable future, but regardless it looks like he should stay on the team.

So far, Castillo has proved he’s had the leg in the Big Apple. The only miss was blocked which could of also been blamed on the lineman potentially but other than that he has been stellar. He is someone to trust on a field goal anywhere on the field.

It is great to see him get another shot after a decent showing with the Houston Roughnecks. It seems he has found his rhythm again with the New York Jets.  One more upside with Castillo is his CFL background could prove him well during the colder New York winter games late in the season.

What is on Castillo’s platter tonight?

The former Houston Roughneck and the new York Jets will seek their first win on Monday Night against the also struggling New England Patriots.

The Jets winning is very possible, and probably not a big win either. The win could potentially come from a Sergio Castillo field goal. Expect Castillo to be poised and ready for any opportunity that he gets tonight on the primetime Monday Night Football slot.
