Following their purchase of the XFL, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to social media to make a point of celebrating the historic moment that his colleague and fellow investor, Dany Garcia, became the first woman to own an entire professional football league.

“I have the pleasure to illuminate this huge milestone in sports history. My XFL partner, Dany Garcia becomes the first woman to own an entire professional sports league. She was the architect in our strategic acquisition of the XFL and now we proudly and humbly go to work with our partners — all for the love of football,” Johnson wrote on Facebook and Instagram.

He followed up with, “Congrats Dany! Let’s get to work.”

Johnson has been active on social media, talking about the league he bought along with Garcia and co-investor Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital.

“The acquisition of the XFL with my talented partners, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale, is an investment for me that’s rooted deeply in two things: My passion for the game and my desire to always take care of the fans,” Johnson said just after the sale was announced.

On behalf of the fans, players, coaches and staff, we look forward to see what is next for the XFL.

I’ll start this post with a heartfelt & excited, THANK YOU for the incredible responses I’ve been seeing from you all day. With my trail blazing partner @DanyGarciaCo & RedBird Capital’s Gerry Cardinale – we have acquired the XFL. With gratitude & passion I’ve built a career with my own two hands and will apply these callouses to building our @xfl brand to create something special for the fans. My dreams of playing professional football never came true, however – this passion venture allows me to create opportunities for other players to showcase their talents, take care of their families and make their own dreams come true. Now, my partners and I go to work – for the love of football. #XFL #Owner #FullCircle
