XFL cancellation - decision insight?

Post by 4th&long » Fri Mar 13, 2020 10:15 pm

You can check these tweets in order, but per DJ - Vince needed convincing and Luck made the call, already working on 2021.
- may be BS or maybe not....

Ultimately, the call to end the season was Oliver Luck’s.

Luck told McMahon that suspending operations now would SAVE the league & not harm it, feeling that any non-action that resulted in the further spreading of the virus among players or fans would doom the XFL for good.<<

>>Also, even though the XFL knows the chance is small, the league hopes to resume the 2020 season at some point, whether it be regular season or playoffs.

Their statement last night intentionally started with the word "Currently" and didn't use the word "cancel."<<

ANd to the future....

I'm told there's an all-hands meeting b/t #XFL HQ and team FOs and one of the key points came from league president and COO Jeffrey Pollack:

"The 2021 season and seasons beyond are happening. No question whatsoever."

"We will return. We will play in 2021. No doubt about that."<<

Well it's clear, whether with age and experience or whatever Vince is finally to the point where he's comfortable delegating--as seen by tonight's empty arena Smackdown, which kinda reminded me of the old TBS NWA shows.

It's like the line in Have a Nice Day about Mick Foley's first Boiler Room match with the Undertaker: "Vince liked the match so much he didn't do commentary on it". Obviously, Luck knows what he's doing and he's got Vince's belief and trust or else we would have seen (and heard) ONCE AGAIN, THIIIIIIIIIIS IIIIIIIIIIIS THE X.........F.........LLLLLLLLLLL that first Saturday in DC.

This sounds like BS, either someone making stuff up or someone not fully understanding what he's being told (or, having a "source" that is either making stuff up or not fully understanding what's happening around them).

It can be a fine line between investigative reporter and glorified gossiper, but this dude doesn't strike me as someone to take seriously. Happy to be proven wrong if anyone here has seen anything of substance in his timeline.

Could be - Obviously its a direct quote from the Twitter Poster, he could be full of it, have bs sources or be legit.
