I don’t have much to add other than that I’m holding out hope!
100% on this. If it does work out, this past season and 3.0 would make a hell of a “30 for 30” doc. Come on Vince!!!

Didn't Vince recently physically demonstrate a wrestling stunt? He's 73..... he's crazy. But passionate. If he can conjure up a way..... we'll see the XFL again.....and why should he? Because we were loving it and it wasn't failing....it might need some fine tuning but that could make it even better. Next sports season....if it's 2021, it will be jammed.....maybe 2022 is more realistic ....it's not right to just drop it......he didn't put in two years of his life to only see five weeks of what was looking very promising. We'll still be here when covid goes endemic and becomes something we'll always have to be looking out for, but can live with.

2021 is very likely off the table even if the league comes back. Remember, he would have to basically start from (almost) scratch again. New staff, coaches, players, vendors etc.

But hey, maybe we can hold out hope for 2022!!

2021 is not off the table - they are looking into the leases already at 3 locations.

The blue print is there and they can launch in 2021 again. Maybe he shortens the season, suspends 2 teams till 2022 or both, but 2021 is not out of the picture.
- ALl depends on live attendance
- TV contracts
- #1 Covid spending

He wants a paying TV contract, he wants a lower costs stucture, and better promotion (all IMO based on articles & blogs my own insight).

going to 8 weeks 6 teams reduces the # of reg season games by 16 (from 40 to 24). And 8 week season would allow for a smaller roster size too say 46. If there is uncertainy in LA playing they can suspend them. TB can be suspended if moving to Orlando in 2022. Though if a city says no to live attendance and FL says yes that could change.

Pros:
- cuts cost of 2 organizations 100%, including high cost California
- cuts total salaries for players by 60% (less teams, less games, less players on roster, no team 9) with same per game salary.
- Retains interest in XFL nationally and 6/8 of cities; maintains pulse in 2/8.
- Possible TV deal trial
- Easy sell to America after China virus massacred sports
- Possible positive for 2020 coaches and office staff - if coaches see they can get paid after all

Cons:
- Short turn around
- Needs to sell to Fox and ABC/DIsney
- Possible turn off to 2020 coaches and office staff - after having gone thru a bankruptcy

I like this plan - its a low cost way to save the XFL while live sports finds its footing. If Basketball season starts in Dec Feb-March NBA games will useless.

Thoughts?

If college football is pushed back into an abbreviated Feb-Apr spot, effectively taking the XFL's then 2021 is off the table*

If you did that you'd almost have to cut the number of TV games in half on both the football and basketball side, which I don't think is a bad idea really because you can dump your lower-tier conference game and just stick with the high ones, as well as non-conference games.

*Unless it was a smaller scale op that played solely on Sundays (a la a hypothetical 2002 season), which this time would be mostly cable, and few FOX/ABC spots open.

College football isn't being pushed to February-April. Period. If they can't get the season off by November, there won't be a season.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... o-buy-xfl/

Of course he said similar in Oct 2000 when WCW was for sale (also took a perfect ****storm for that to happen).

This could also be to shut all the Meltzers and other whiny columnists up (well, the attempt anyway) about how "underhanded" he's being.

Stay tuned.

Vince McMahon is taking a lot of heat for not testing any of his wrestlers, while the UFC and the rival AEW are doing it and the Big 4 have plans to do it. The feeling is that Vince believes the virus is nothing more than the flu.

Um how do you think they had a "crowd" on RAW?

(Which of course the AEW marks are taking credit for and is totally bordering on Jesse Ventura Story-style parody)

Besides they had an employee test positive at the Wrestlemania taping. Maybe he's just guessing (and of a course the unnamed XFL player would have never been tested if that were the case).

Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn, who both have ready-made storylines when they get back, would have been part of the roster cuts back in April if that was true. You want me to keep going down the line?

The WWE checks temperatures of the people coming in and the wrestlers wear masks. That is it. The thing about the virus is because people can have it and have not be sick to have it. They can be asymptomatic. That's the issue with WWE only checking temperatures.
