Head coach Jon Hayes has made the following additions to his staff:

Offensive coordinator - Doug Meacham

Offensive asst. coach - Charles Long

WR asst. coach - Az-Zhir Hakim

TE asst. coach - Nicholas Siciliano

Co-DC/LB coach - Matt Raich

DB asst. coach - Tim Lewis
As I reported. No Martz and Hakim was officially announced as WR coach.

Kind of surprised that Doug Meacham. The former Kansas and TCU OC has landed the OC job in STL. Another Air Raid disciple. Hayes kind of went outside his circle with this hire.

Former Birmingham Iron Head Coach Tim Lewis was added to the staff as DB coach. Overall it’s not a bad group of coaches.

Chuck Long played with Jonathan Hayes and Bob Stoops at Iowa before being drafted at #12 overall in 1986 by the Detroit Lions, he was the 2nd qb taken behind Jim Everett. Long also coached with Hayes for a few years at Oklahoma under Stoops, and was the co-offensive coordinator for the Sooners from 2002-05.

Hayes seems to be following the Stoops model a bit. Moreso than the Marvin Lewis route. Hiring an Air Raid OC and with this Long hire.

Long is a college football hall of famer.

Jonathan’s staff is pretty unique. He’s got his brother on board. The OU ties. An AAF Head Coach and Bengals ties. Not to mention Hakim.

Nicholas Siciliano is an interesting name. He was with Hayes in Cincy, but his best work came as QB coach at Ohio State. He worked with Terrelle Pryor and Braxton Miller. Two potential XFL players.

Being at OSU was definitely not his best work. He was an absolute joke as an QBs coach at Ohio State. Nothing has ever been positive from his time there.

OU won a lot during his time there, but you are right. Siciliano took a lot of heat. Despite the program having very good success and good quarterback play.

He was awful. We got production from the QB position but none of our QBs became better passers under his tutelage. They were just great athletes that switched positions

For those of who like an existing coach-quarterback connection:
Doug Meachem (among other things, former TCU OC when they were putting up huge numbers with Trevone Boykin) is the OC, under HC Jon Hayes, who has been an assistant with the Bengals for the last 16 years. If nothing else the XFL is going to be a fascinating melting pot of ideas

From St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Ben Fredrickson on XFL St. Louis Showcase:
With the Cardinals back in town and SEC media days right around the corner, my attention will be elsewhere this weekend. Will be interesting to see the size of the turnout and if any notable names appear. The entire coaching staff has been announced, and as someone who beat the drum for a Rams connection, I liked the addition of Az-Zahir Hakim as an assistant coach. Wonder if any recognizable players will turn out for the tryout.
