Re: Future XFL Expansion

Dallas still has mediocre attendance. But Dallas still has them. 24 years in. Would they still have them if not for the league's business model that requires a steady stream of expansion fees to cover the league's persistent losses? MLS refuses to fold teams, or at least has refused to do so since ...

Re: NFL Practice Squad/Futures Contracts Tracker

This is an utter disaster. I don't think it's a disaster. This is a problem that was bound to happen, and even quite predictable. Still more than enough players in the pool. I do not see this as an utter disaster at all.... But why are you saying "bound to happen" is that based on AAF history or so...

Re: NFL Practice Squad/Futures Contracts Tracker

This league is losing players to futures contracts?!?! They should be picking UP players. This is an utter disaster. How utterly SICK is it that players would rather sign a $0 contract with an NFL team that will likely bury them at the bottom of an offseason roster than actually accept money to pla...

Re: Future XFL Expansion

How long the XFL lasts will depend on year one in both TV ratings and attendance and what role Vince McMahon will have going forward. If ratings and attendance do well, year two is going to happen and it's business as usual. To do well, the XFL needs at least a 2.0 rating and an average attendance ...

Re: Future XFL Expansion

That’s because the AAF made horrible choices and had a lousy business infrastructure. Right. And if you make a horrible initial choice, you need to make a change. Imagine if DC were to find out right now that their team is potentially one and done. That kills that market immediately and sends a mes...

Re: Future XFL Expansion

So LeoNY, what do you think the XFL should do with a team that is struggling in its market? Does the whole league (aka Vince) just let the bleeding continue? If so, for how long? What if it is only one team that is struggling and the others are all doing respectably? If you were in Vince's or Luck'...

Re: Next Monday December 30th is a key NFL Day

Nah, I'd bet on that still happening. League officials have been hearing from practice squad guys that want to play in the league and it would only be fair to have a draft for those kinds of guys.(or at least that's what they say) If an XFL team wants a practice squad guy from Baltimore or New Engl...

Re: Future XFL Expansion

XFL has two possible expansion (more or less) target types... Top 15 TV markets only - of which they already have 7. Or they can target top 35-16 TV markets w/o NFL and at least one of the these MLB/NHL/NBA. The shift in focus here is to anchor the league with some teams in cities starved for FB wit...

Re: Future XFL Expansion

My thoughts is I think expansion is a given that is going to happen, I think the soonest would be after year two as long they have success after two years in the current market. Meaning year one they do well and after year one they can maintain the interest if not increase it in season two. If they...

Re: Is there an opening for another pro football league to start up?

There is certainly a time zone for a small league in the late May - 1st week in August time frame. There is a dead zone of sports programming in June-1st week-Aug that would be welcome by TV nets looking for Sports programming.
