Re: Sportico: RedBird Capital and the Rock buy XFL for $15M

I didn't know you could buy something before a bankruptcy auction. So I learned something today. Turns out this happened because The Rock’s was the only bid. No Sh#t. This is why Hayes pushing VM to the curb (as stated in previous posts) was the dumbest move ever. Even the Networks said he was inst...

Re: So either ESPN is out.............

Yes, then there's this; they may be reposting previously published stuff, but at least, it keeps some hype for XFL alive; if people find themselves new hobbies and passions, when COVID-19 will be over, there won't be many people paying money to see it (either in person in stadiums, or on TV), and t...

Re: XFL Bankruptcy Thread

Whether it returns or not, the things they did made an impact and it will further advance the game of football into a more exciting to watch product. Really wish we could've had at least one overtime session to see how that would've worked. Two years of planning went into five weeks of games that d...

Re: XFL Bankruptcy Thread

The Athletic's Daniel Kaplan has a story covering the request by ESPN and FOX to not have their deals with the XFL as part of the bankruptcy sale: https://theathletic.com/1957668/2020/07/28/with-xfl-bids-due-thursday-fox-and-espn-want-changes-to-their-broadcast-deals/ (subscription required) While ...

Re: XFL Bankruptcy Thread

Paul Finebaum of ESPN doesn't seem to think College Football is happening in the fall. That affects a possible return of the XFL in 2021 as I doubt the new owners will want to compete with college football in 2021 and would wait for a re-launch in 2022. That's Fine, Paul can think what he wants. Bu...

Re: XFL Bankruptcy Thread

Even though the Power 5 have said conference only for the fall, the NCAA could force those leagues to move their games to the spring, which means the XFL would not return in 2021. CFB in the fall.... It's happening...! Mostly likely 10 in conf, one out of conf game. And they'll regret losing 2 game...

Re: XFL Bankruptcy Thread

One thing to think about is that the new owner of the XFL may want to return in 2021, but would be better off returning in 2022 if College football is moved to the spring. Right now it's a few FCS and lower division conferences. I don't see why it would be a deterrent unless the league is planned t...

MLS is having problems establishing itself on TV for some reason, Premier League ratings are at least four times that

I'm not sure to this day if NBC losing MLS was a case of losing it in the traditional sense or lose as in a take a hike.
