Re: VM lists reasons for OL firing- PFT

My bad, it was KJR, whatever one he mentioned stepping in and unilaterally firing team personnel--among other head-scratchers. A commissioner of league shouldn't be in team business, period--Vince worked too damn hard to get the league up and running again for Luck to pull something that would be mo...

Re: VM lists reasons for OL firing- PFT

I think he'll settle for the $2.8mm which he has a much better argument and that will end this... If I were luck, I wouldn't settle for anything less than say 50% of the contract. Personal guarantee of the contract (which I think is new news) changes everything. I'm guessing (no first hand knowledg...

Re: FL Gov welcomes teams to play in FL

Predictably, the shutdown army is going after him in the comment section, but the fact is Florida would have been ground zero at some point based on the Super Bowl (keep in mind a few weeks back Florio totally bought into the article about the Niners saving lives by losing, which sounds like it came...

Re: VM lists reasons for OL firing- PFT

Second one's kinda weak and the first would have to be defined further, but Callaway was quite frankly a waste and flies right in the face of the league's strategy to avoid "names" (the name extent here is Callaway essentially being a poor man's Josh Gordon) based solely on name value, especially wh...

Re: CFL could fold - looks for Gov bailout

The NFL didnt bail out the XFL which s more aligned with NFL style FB - why would they bailout CFL. A CFL collapse would open up Canada to American style FB The NFL actually did bail out the CFL once, though nowhere near what they're looking for today. Different time - NFL would love 2-3 teams in c...

Re: CFL could fold - looks for Gov bailout

I don't see the league folding, but if it did it would be catastrophic for football as a whole. If a player doesn't make the NFL out of college and there is no CFL or any other outdoor football league, that player is essentially screwed. Not to mention coaches, staff, etc. that would not have anywh...

Re: OL, Week 6, VM and the XFL bankruptcy

That's false. ESPN and Fox have only expressed interest in WWE PPVs, but not the company as a whole. While it isn't impossible that, family business aside, the McMahons would ever sell WWE--even to a media conglomerate, as Jim Crockett Jr sold to Turner (Jim Sr started JCP in the 30s) in 1988, the ...

Re: Sports leagues attitudes swinging back to resume/open

I don't know if there will ever be a desire to start something like this again .... in the fully recovered post pandemic world of 2025 or so.... the need might not exist, because by that time, the NFL will have expanded to 36 giving a team back to St. Louis.....and London..... they'll be playing 18...

Re: PJ Walker: In the XFL, We Were All on a Mission

Indeed, an excellent read, and one that reads like a straight transcription of his thoughts and not some polished, Players Tribune -esque pro essay. ...although I did read one red flag about this: how Walker attributed his arrival in the XFL to his former teammate Andrew Luck recommending him—and o...

Re: OL, Week 6, VM and the XFL bankruptcy

This is a rumor, not fact yet......but there is a speculation that Vince may be entertaining the idea of selling WWE to ESPN/Fox. This is not the "Khan buys AAF" rumor of a month ago. If it were true, maybe that includes the XFL as well. That's false. ESPN and Fox have only expressed interest in WW...
