Re: Donald Trump endorses the XFL

Gee.....and at one point I thought this league really had a chance. The concept was good though. Guess you are going to have to give up on the NFL too. Since the majority of the owners are republican and lean towards Donald Trump. Shahid Khan and others donated money towards Donald Trump. So time t...

Re: Why hasn’t the XFL pursued Johnny Manziel?

The same Florio article suggests playing games during the weekdays in the fall. That was already tried by the UFL not too long ago. I was at Giants stadium on a weeknight when the Sentinels had about 38 people in the stands. Asking families to show up 8pm to games on work nights with school the nex...

Re: Tier 1 Quarterback Question

Landry Jones was a failed NFL starter? You do remember he was behind some guy named Roethlisberger right? Oh and those three seasons he made starts, the Steelers still made the playoffs in each, couldn't have been that much of a failure No, he is a failed NFL starting QB. You do realize that if he ...

Re: Tier 1 Quarterback Question

I will be surprised if names like Matt Cassel, Brandon Weeden or Brock Osweiler are announced for tomorrow and Friday. Cassel and Weeden are closer to retirement age and the XFL seems to be beneath Osweiler. The last thing I want from the XFL is a place where failed NFL starters (as those three and...

Re: Expansion 2021?

I'll put myself on record with how I see this playing out (assuming relative success in 2020) Soon after 2020 season XFL announces something like "New markets coming in 2022" in hopes getting more fans to watch on TV in markets without teams to get a ratings bump in 2021; as the 2021 season unfolds ...

Re: Expansion 2021?

In general, I agree with you, but let's also remember that the main reason leagues want to expand is to net expansion money for the existing franchises. For a single entity league, there's no financial benefit to doing so... so as long as the one and only investor in the XFL is one Vincent K. McMah...

Re: Expansion 2021?

And just to add one more reason 12 teams is sort of a 'magic' number. One of the things that makes the NFL the juggernaut it is is fantasy football. Right now, it would be impossible for your 12 team NFL fantasy league to create an XFL league. Do 4 of the teams in the fantasy league just have to dea...

Re: Expansion 2021?

Certainly not too soon to discuss or even plan for - I hope the league is doing so. IMO though, waaaay too soon to implement in the first 3 years of operation. I enjoy the speculation as to where an expanded league might go to. Can you name a modern American sports startup (that was not specificall...

Re: Expansion 2021?

Although it is an interesting subject to discuss, I just can't see the league expanding until season 4 (assuming there is one). It's all about revenue flow or maybe more correctly, cash outgo. We have been told that they are financially set for 3 years and I don't see a huge revenue stream beginnin...

Re: XFL Draft

My point is that the salary cap is for financial balance, not competitive balance. The Patriots are Exhibit A in why it doesn't work for competitive balance. The NFL still has a cap, and yet one team still dominates the rest of the league. In fact, because the teams on the lower end of the standing...
