Re: College Football Season

Well, they might play in the spring. XFL is probably better off aiming for a 2022 season. Either the pandemic improves and they have to contend with college football or there's no significant improvement and staging a season becomes even more difficult. Then you're up against the Olympics, though. ...

Re: College Football Season

Plus there's no guarantee that there would be any appreciable improvement in the COVID situation come spring. In fact, these kind of diseases tend to spike worse in the winter than in the summer. Postponing to spring is basically banking on one of two things: 1) vaccines are approved and readily ava...

Re: What changes do you hope new ownership brings?

My understanding is that they were preparing to make a competitive offer to Walker and maybe some others. You need to pick your spots, but I definitely think that's the right move. Consider, though, that there's no assurance that any of the XFL players will make NFL regular season rosters. Almost a...

Re: Will teams remain in their current cities?

Virtually locks to return, since all three still have stadium deals:
St. Louis
Seattle
Houston

Probably will return:
New York
Los Angeles
(if only for the TV deals)
DC

Toss-up:
Dallas

Good as gone:
Tampa Bay

Re: Could the new owners sell off individual teams?

Now that players are so rich ....NOT rich enough for the NFL because that's all super billionaires now.....but rich enough to run an XFL team for sure. And perhaps Rock is somewhat better connected to those ex players looking for a Freedom Football League to start up but never will. Example: Russel...

Re: RedBird Capital, Dany Garcia, and The Rock to buy XFL for $15M

I took it as something being wrong with the other bid. I don't think legally they can just favor The Rock for his star power/relationship with Vince if there's another good bid. Indeed. It wouldn't surprise me if someone tried to submit a $1 bid just for the sake of saying they bid on the XFL. Or i...

Re: Could the new owners sell off individual teams?

In theory... I suppose, but that might throw a wrench into the original business model (though with McMahon now effectively out of the picture, that business model may be out the window as well).

Re: RedBird Capital, Dany Garcia, and The Rock to buy XFL for $15M

It's better to have a guy like Johnson come in with an initial $15 million investment and be able to keep funneling money into it than, say, to have Tom Dundon come in promising $250 million and then pulling the plug after only $70 million.

Re: So either ESPN is out.............

Yes, then there's this; they may be reposting previously published stuff, but at least, it keeps some hype for XFL alive; if people find themselves new hobbies and passions, when COVID-19 will be over, there won't be many people paying money to see it (either in person in stadiums, or on TV), and t...
