Re: XFL Bankruptcy Thread

Re: ESPN pulling out of its agreement.

That would dramatically reduce the value of the league's assets, and thus most likely the selling price.

Re: Fans will be back in the stands

I don't think we'll see any team sports for 2020. Then how can you expect it to ever come back? If it's not safe in 2020, why will it magically disappear in 2021? There's a narrow window to get a virus under control: if you miss it, it becomes endemic and you'll never get it under control. It's loo...

Re: Fans will be back in the stands

Just to be clear, I'm in my 50's...so yes, I'm concerned about covid. As for the NFL, if I were commissioner, I'd lean toward suspending operations. It wouldn't be a popular decision....and if Roger Goodell makes that call, he'll be roasted. But I'm betting Rozelle and Tagliabue wouldve gone the sa...

Re: Fans will be back in the stands

To me, it is the epitome of arrogance and a lack of concern that so many people are out and about as if the virus was gone. This disregard for our senior population is disturbing to say the least. Now, we are seeing a spike in younger folks who aren't as "immune" as was once thought. This is much b...

Re: Fans will be back in the stands

Nobody cares about Covid-19 anymore. The protests are proof of that. Well, Fauci and a few germaphobic epidemiologists still care, that much is certain. But the vast majority of people who were pushing this in April and early May have moved on—including Andrew Cuomo (and New York is well on its way...

Fans will be back in the stands

A good sign: NASCAR is letting up to 5000 people watch an upcoming race at Talladega.

Which means—barring any outbreaks being tied to it—other outdoor sports will likely be allowed to return to the same.

Re: June Jones would return to XFL - Apparently treated well on way out...

It seems like the vast majority of people who were involved with the 2020 XFL season had nothing but good things to say about it... except Oliver Luck, of course.

Re: Spurrier signals interest in coaching if XFL returns

A few weak mayors/governors are getting called out. The rads will be separated from legit people that are voicing their concerns. This did prove one thing wuhan virus hysteria over blown (at least for under 50's) . Markets up, betting on America's future to return to last 3 yrs economy and more eco...

Re: Spurrier signals interest in coaching if XFL returns

Spurrier would be an upgrade over Trestman, for sure. As for the Orlando Apollos trademark... the USPTO says the Orlando Apollos trademark is dead (abandoned), meaning the new owners (or anyone else) could easily reclaim it. The Apollos equipment was purchased by Jerry Kurz; Major League Football cl...

Re: Disney/Fox inquired about XFL

(trimmed for brevity) Regarding the big networks... Fox would be an obvious choice for the reasons you stated: lots of cash and an orientation toward live events such as sports. ESPN, they're tighter on cash right now and the league needs them more than they need the league. Yet even so, the rating...
