XFL Signs TV Deal with the National Network

TNN: THE NATIONAL NETWORK has become the exclusive cable home of the XFL, Diane Robina, General Manager, TNN, and Basil V. DeVito, Jr., President, XFL, announced today. XFL games will telecast live on TNN on Sunday afternoons (4:00 PM, ET) beginning February 11, 2001 and continuing through April 8.

In all, nine XFL games will air on TNN (see schedule below), commencing with a matchup between the New York/New Jersey Hitmen and Birmingham Thunderbolts at legendary Giants Stadium. TNN telecasts will be produced by the XFL.

"XFL's unique brand of football -- the way it was meant to be played -- will make TNN 'pop' as a Sunday afternoon destination for millions of fans,'' says Ms. Robina. "XFL will be a total fan experience, with the highest production values and innovations, intense team action and rivalries.''

"We are excited to welcome TNN as our cable partner,'' said DeVito. "Fans who tune in to TNN on Sunday afternoons will experience a different type of football telecast, one that we believe will change how sports is presented on TV.''

Consisting of eight teams -- New York/New Jersey Hitmen, Los Angeles Xtreme, Chicago Enforcers, San Francisco Demons, Orlando Rage, Las Vegas Outlaws, Memphis Maniax and Birmingham Thunderbolts -- playing a 10-game regular season, the XFL promises the type of smash-mouth football not seen since the sport was in its heyday a couple of decades ago.

In creating the ultimate pop culture experience for TNN viewers, the XFL will provide fans with an "all-access backstage pass'' via cameras positioned in locker rooms, on sidelines and in the helmets of selected players. XFL players, coaches, locker rooms and huddles will also be miked, providing viewers with unique insight into the strategy of the game and enabling them to fully experience the true emotion, attitude and intensity of the players, both on and off the field. Through rule changes designed to enhance the action and speed of the game, along with broadcast television innovations that will bring fans "inside the game,'' the XFL will recapture the natural personality, fun and intensity of pro football.
