This is very similar to Robert Meachem working out last week. Meachem has been trying for a couple of years now to get back into playing pro football. Nicks at his best, was a clutch receiver. He’s only 31 but he was damaged goods towards the tail end of his NFL career. No harm in him getting a shot to work out. No surprise that Kevin Gilbride will be on hand watching him.

Add RB Branden Oliver to the mix for tomorrow's Summer Showcase. Talented runner, who has had a long history with injuries. Even in the AAF for Salt Lake this year, he ended up on injured reserve. That's been the story of his career after being The University of Buffalo's all time leading rusher.

Couple other names Tweeted out by Eric Galko that will be in attendance tomorrow in NY:

RB Andre Williams, RB/WR Dexter McCluster, QB Joe Callahan and QB Alek Torgersen.

McCluster in particular seems to fit what this league wants to be about offensively.

Those 4 names, all have a chance to be signed to contracts.

Joe Callahan is someone, I have posted about on this board in the past. He's ideally suited for this type of league. Only 26 years old, he's been on 5 different NFL teams. Twice with Green Bay. Only 7 pass attempts in his entire NFL career. A career 3rd stringer. He was cut right before the draft by Bruce Arians and Tampa.

Callahan is a New Jersey kid. He played at Wesley College in Delaware. As a senior, Callahan threw for 5,063 yards and 55 touchdowns and led Wesley back to the D-III playoffs. He was awarded the Gagliardi Trophy, considered the Heisman Trophy for Division III, and became the first D-III player to throw for over 5,000 yards in a season.

I'm sure Mike will fill us in on the NY Showcase, but McCluster strangely wasn't on the roster that he posted on Twitter.

I'm interested in the blank on the roster of QBs between Callahan and Comis. I'm assuming someone got an invite, confirmed, then dropped out? The only free-agent name I can think of that would fit alphabetically between those two is Matt Cassel.

I harassed quite a few XFL employees about certain things, that quite frankly, they didn't want to divulge, unless it was off the record.

In public quarters, they won't discuss when a player turns down a league invite like Junior Galette did. If a player is sent home, when he shows up. They won't discuss that either. Out of respect for the player and the agent. If a player shows up with an injury, that's also something that the league wants to keep close to the vest. If a player no shows, due to any reasons, that's also kept under wraps. Even showcase numbers, are being kept from the media and public, for the most part.
