Great article.

Team branding and market individuality is going to be very important from a look and feel standpoint. Every team feeling the same is a trap that you fall into because there are not individual owners with their own unique personalities. The teams need to take on the personality of their city and their head coach/leader because there won't be separate owners.

The original XFL embodied pop culture back in 2001. It was smashmouth, in your face and extreme. So teams were branded Outlaws, Hitmen, Demons, Maniax, Rage, Bolts, Enforcers and of course Xtreme. The logos were fun but kind of silly, they were bizzare like the Rageaholic meathead on Orlando helmets but they all kind of carried the same theme.

The XFL 2.0 needs to be original and think outside the box. You want to get away from the standard team names but you don't want to come off as gimmicky or trendy either. Like the St. Louis Lits or the The Portland Hipsters.

Once you hit on a name that fits the region. Allow a local artist to design the logo that best suits the name of the team.
